ALISON FRASER, RMTAlison Fraser is a registered massage therapist and clinical educator in British Columbia, known for her compassionate approach and dedication to trauma-informed care. She is a proud member of the College of Complementary Health Professionals of British Columbia (formerly the College of Massage Therapists of BC) and the Registered Massage Therapists Association of British Columbia.
Alison’s journey in healthcare began in 2009 with the founding of Flourishing Family Doula Care, where she supported at-risk families through the transition to parenthood. Her career later took her to frontline hospital work, where she began to understand that "healing" often involves far more than what’s discussed in clinical texts. She saw firsthand how empathy, compassion, and supportive presence profoundly impacts a patient's recovery, whether they're healing from an accident that happened that morning or something they experienced years ago. Alison's personal experience with trauma led her to explore massage therapy as a healing path, eventually inspiring her to become a registered massage therapist. Driven by the belief that trauma-informed practices are essential for comprehensive healing, Alison authored Touch After Trauma: A Practical Guide for Manual Therapists to support her colleagues and offer hope to trauma survivors. Beyond her clinical practice, Alison is a passionate educator and advocate for trauma-informed care. She actively engages in research to advance the understanding of trauma recovery, aiming to empower therapists and improve patient outcomes. Living in a quiet community in Coastal British Columbia, Alison enjoys kayaking, hiking, and playing her string bass. |
